The West Georgia Ukulele Ensemble will be performing this weekend at The Vineyard and Winery at Hominy Creek, between Villa Rica and Carrollton.
The Vineyard is a wine-tasting venue, offering local varieties, and there will be a food truck on hand during the performance, from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 13th.

There are a lot of ukulele events this week in Atlanta!
The West Georgia Ukulele Ensemble is participating in Douglas County’s first Festival of the Arts on April 18, so they won’t be meeting at Sweetwater Valley Library this week.
After a break for Easter, the Sunday Strum at Waikikie Hawaiian Barbecue on Briarcliff Rd. in Atlanta, resumes this Sunday, April 19th, from 2 – 4 p.m.
SMUG is on the road on Monday, performing at Kennesaw State University as part of an “Adopt-a-Stream Jam” on the Green at 5 p.m. Check the group’s Facebook page for specifics.
UUkers will practice as usual on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
Finally, SMUG will be at their Switzer Library location on Friday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
West-siders! Jackson Green will be doing a six-week beginner course through the Douglas County/Douglasville Cultural Arts Coalition starting March 24th, and running through April 28th.
It’s a group course, and the only requirement is to bring a ukulele. Some used ukuleles may be available.
Diane Weiglein shares an updated songbook from the Facebook Tiki Nation group, including two versions of “Crazy”, one following the Patsy Cline version in B, and one following the Willie Nelson version in C.
These song sheets look great — they include chord diagrams (for standard GCEA tuning), and often include insets outlining riffs or solos.

Kirk Jones is a Huntsville-based ukulele performer and teacher, who will be headlining the first Uke Republic event in a new space at the Austell Threadmill Complex (where Uke Republic is located).

Feng E is a YouTube superstar, who’s been posting his ukulele videos for around 8 years, and has 760,000 subscribers. He’s coming to Eddie’s Attic in Decatur February 8th at 4 p.m., and tickets are still available.
The Anarchy in the UK YouTube channel has posted their 2025 awards show, The Ukies, with awards for best new ukuleles of 2025, best ukulele podcast, and more.
First Waikikie session of the year is this Sunday, January 4th, from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. I hope you’ll join me; I’m putting together a playlist of musicians who died in 2025 (it was quite a list, including Brian Wilson, Sly Stone, Roberta Flack, and Steve Cropper).
